Canfor reports fourth quarter loss

Canfor says it recorded an operating loss of $415.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2025, with a net operating loss of $390.5 million.

The company says in a news release that demand for lumber was already weakened, and tariffs and duties from the U.S. made it worse.

Canfor says the lumber segment of the company had a net operating loss of $318.8 million.

Production and shipments were lower in North America but higher in Europe.

Canfor’s release says that the lumber market in North America will “face continued uncertainty through 2026.”

Canfor owns a sawmill in Grande Prairie.
