Poor road conditions after freezing rain

Nov 23, 2017 | 5:26 AM

The freezing rain warning has ended for our area but Environment Canada is calling for a slight chance of rain showers or flurries early this morning.

According to Alberta 511; highways 43, 40 and 2 are snow/ice covered.

All rural bus routes are cancelled in the region this morning including Peace Wapiti School Division, Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools, Horse Lake and Valhalla Community Charter School.  Northern Gateway School Division has also cancelled their buses this morning for Fox Creek and Valleyview.

A caller told our newsroom around 6 a.m. that Highway 40 north was at a standstill at Canfor with multiple trucks in the ditch.  He said he hadn’t moved in two-and-a-half hours.
