Region’s unemployment rate dips slightly

Our region’s unemployment rate fell slightly in January and is now the same as the national rate.

According to Statistics Canada the area that includes Grande Prairie and stretches from Jasper to Peace River is sitting at 5.9 percent, compared to December’s 6.0 percent.

The number of jobs in Canada fell by 88,000 in January to give the labour market its steepest one-month drop in nine years.
