All rural buses cancelled Tuesday morning due to drifting snow

Some roads in the county are impassable this morning due to drifting snow and all rural school buses have been cancelled.

Wind gusts picked up overnight causing snow to blow over the roads.

Peace Wapiti School Division has cancelled all rural buses because of heavy drifted snow.

All First Student Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools rural buses are cancelled today due to poor road conditions. First Student Grande Prairie urban buses are running today.

In the Grande Prairie Public School District, the newly annexed portion west of the city (route 104) is cancelled.

And all Valhalla Community School buses are cancelled for today

According to 511 Alberta, Highway 43 and Highway 40 are mostly bare and dry with some sections partly covered in snow.

Environment Canada says it will be windy today in the Grande Prairie region with winds gusting to 60 km/hr and 80 km/hr in wind prone areas.
