The Alberta government has announced measures to cut what it describes as excessive post-secondary salaries.
New regulations announced today would cap salary levels for post-secondary presidents, eliminate executive bonuses and limit executive severance to a maximum of 52 weeks.
They would also set guidelines for additional benefits and ban perks, such as signing bonuses or sports memberships.
The Alberta government has already passed rules to reduce and regulate pay at agencies, boards and commissions and has also imposed a wage freeze on public-sector managers and non-unionized employees. (CBC)
