Highway 43, 43X bypass update

Nov 14, 2017 | 9:18 AM

There will be an eventual interchange built on Highway 43 where the bypass is being constructed.

Ryan Konowalyk, Regional Director for Alberta Transportation Peace Region, says the project is on schedule to open late next fall with a set of lights by Richmond Hill going up first.

“Much like Highway 43 and 2 there used to be an intersection there, then there was a partial interchange to a full interchange, that’s our plan at the new Highway 43, 43X location. We have started work acquiring the land and designing the future interchange already.”

He says work on a round-a-bout on Highway 43X will start in the spring.

“Starting in the spring of 2018 we will continue the grading and start work at getting it paved. At that time there will be some impact to traffic at the current Highway 43X Range Road 63, 116 Street intersection as we start building the new round-a-bout.”
