Increase in new users at local food bank

Dec 15, 2017 | 6:47 AM

The Salvation Army’s food bank has seen an increase in newcomers.

As of the end of November, there have been 445 Christmas applications, 569 requests for hampers and 371 requests for children in need.

The organization says if last month’s numbers are any indication, they will be up in the number of families, individuals, and children in need this year.

Some of the items the food bank is asking for include kids snacks, peanut butter and jam, canned meat and canned fruit.

In late November, the organization made a call out for volunteers for their Kettle Campaign

The campaign goal this year is $500,000.
