Local company recommended for downtown project

A city committee is recommending a local company be hired to do Phase 3 of the Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscape Project.
 
Council will discuss a tender for $12,015,380.98 from Wapiti Gravel Suppliers at its next meeting set for Monday evening.
 
Two bids were submitted. The details of the other bid were not released by City Hall. 
 
This work, set to start in mid-May, would see below-ground and street-level improvements done on 100 Avenue between 100 and 102 Streets, similar to the work done on 101 Avenue the last couple summers.
 
The target completion date would be mid-October, but that depends on the weather.
