Minor downtown construction begins

Apr 26, 2018 | 6:54 AM

Construction set to begin on alleyways in downtown Grande Prairie for the next few weeks is a reminder that some of the roads downtown will be closed this summer.

Phase Three of the Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes Project will be focussing on 100 Avenue between 100 Street and 102 Street.

In preparation for that, crews will be connecting temporary water lines to buildings in the area.

The city says no traffic or water service will be impacted.

Work will take place from April 26 – May 20 with traffic impeding construction to follow and includes “cutting pavement, excavation of trenches, placement of temporary waterlines in alleyways, and backfilling the trenches with gravel. Once the permanent waterlines to businesses in the construction zone have been installed, tested, commissioned and accepted, the temporary water will be disconnected and removed.”
