2nd Annual Fight For Hope surpasses expectations

May 1, 2018 | 2:53 PM

The second annual Fight For Hope punched its way to another stellar weekend.

Co-Founder of the event, Scotty Cartwright says the event not only sold out but also surpassed the $100,000 donation mark by a landslide.

Everyone in attendance was treated to a number of fights from local boxers.

“Thirty-eight fighters, so 19 bouts from eight-year-olds all the way up to 42 year-olds.”

Roughly 1,600 people attended the event along with the fighters, who all emptied their pockets to support the cause.

“Each fighter was asked to at least try, it wasn’t mandatory but to give their best effort to pledge $1,000, most of them surpassed that. So that night [Friday] there was over $43,000 submitted,” said Cartwright.  “My wife and I started this whole thing from the ground up. I emceed it, I fought in it, pounded the streets for months now. All was inspired because my little boy has stage four cancer, Leukemia.”

They do not have an exact total yet.  They were still adding up the numbers Tuesday afternoon as donations were still coming in from businesses. All donations will go towards the Ronald McDonald House as well as Kids With Cancer Society.
