2016 ramming incident leads to three-month jail sentence
A 2016 incident where a Spirit River RCMP cruiser was rammed by a pick-up has led to a three-month jail sentence for the man charged.
Alberta Justice says Nashon Jaron Osborne pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of failing to stop for a peace officer after originally facing a number of counts, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was also given two years probation.
Charges of assaulting a peace officer and mischief to property were withdrawn while an operating a vehicle while disqualified count was dismissed.
Spirit River RCMP said at the time that on June 8, 2016, they were called out to investigate a possible impaired driving complaint. RCMP added a suspect vehicle turned and collided with the police vehicle, then took a run at the Mountie after they stepped out of their vehicle. Police added an RCMP weapon was fired during the incident
Osborne was never charged with anything related to impaired driving.
