15-year-old girl charged with attempted murder in stabbing of police officer
HALIFAX — A 15-year-old girl is facing a charge of attempted murder after a Halifax police officer was stabbed while responding to a report of a stolen truck.
The girl and a 15-year-old boy allegedly stole the truck in Truro, N.S., and went on a highway joyride that ended with the stabbing of Const. Andrew Gordon in Halifax early Tuesday.
“It’s very sobering and scary,” Const. Carol McIsaac said Wednesday. “As a police officer, it’s always a thought that’s in your mind … but when something like this happens it really brings it to the forefront.”
The girl, who cannot be identified, is currently being treated at a Halifax’s children’s hospital, McIsaac said.
