Hythe Motor Speedway opening weekend

Jun 9, 2018 | 6:00 AM

Engines are firing up for another season of racing at the Hythe Motor Speedway.  It kicks off with the fan appreciation weekend.

President of the Hythe Motor Speedway, BJ Clark says it’s been a long winter and they’re excited to get back on the race track.  He says one thing the association takes pride in is making sure the events are fun for the whole family.

“They’re going to get to see kids right from five years old on our mini sprint racing track,” he said.  “We have some 14-year-old kids getting into full-size race cars this year,  which is really exciting.”

Races continue with the adult drivers in the modified class who will hit speeds of around 120 miles an hour.

This weekend is fan appreciation and there will be a $5 admission charge with kids 7 and under getting in free.

The races run once a month for two days throughout the summer.

The Hythe Motor Speedway is located in the Village of Hythe, just off Secondary Highway 721.
