Highway 43X bypass work getting underway

Jun 19, 2018 | 7:11 AM

Work is set to begin at 116 Street and Highway 43X (pictured) on Thursday.

The intersection will be closed as a round-a-bout is built. There will also be a closure on Highway 43X at Highway 2.

The work is set to be done in mid-August, but until then, there are detours available.

According to a release from the province, east-west traffic will detour on 162 Avenue, 101 Street, and 156 Avenue. North-south traffic will use Township Road 722.

There will be signage to guide drivers.

On June 25, there is more construction set to take place in relation to the Highway 43X bypass. There will be traffic delays on Highway 43 between Range Roads 70 and 71 as work on the Highway 43/Highway 43X intersection gets underway.

During the first part of the work, traffic will flow on one lane of the westbound lanes. For the second part, two lanes of the eastbound lanes will be used.

Once complete, the intersection will have amber warning lights as well as traffic signals.
