Beaverlodge Public Works dealing with flooding

UPDATE: (7:10 p.m.) Highway 43 has reopened for travel following a diversion while the Beaverlodge, Hythe, and Wembley Fire Departments worked together with the RCMP to clear the flooded area.

Some local areas in and around Beaverlodge still have minor flooding and areas of standing water. Motorists are asked to drive very cautiously in these areas.

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Parternship Emergency Operations Centre has also been activated in response to the flood

Water levels are beginning to recede, however residents and the public are asked to avoid the area until futher notice.

The water treatment plant and water quality is good, but residents of the community of Beaverlodge are advised to stock up with water at this time.

GPREP is currently monitoring the situation and continue to provide updates as they become available.

At this time the community of Beaverlodge is under a state of emergency.

 

UPDATE: (6:10 p.m.) Beaverlodge RCMP say traffic on Highway 43 is being diverted at both the east and west end of town. Motorists will be detoured onto Highway 722.

 

Town of Beaverlodge Public Works is out working on the flooding issues after a storm swept through Wednesday afternoon.
