Taber Police potentially save life while helping another person in custody

TABER – Taber Police are saying the decision by a couple of officers to go above and beyond, resulted in them potentially – and unexpectedly – saving the life of a 58-year-old man.
In a social media post, the police service explained that on Tuesday, July 31, an individual was being held in their custody with a possibility that they would remain there for several days pending a bail hearing.
The individual had minor medical concerns and required medication for anxiety, so Sr. Cst. Andrew Evanson and Sr. Cst. Tim Johnson decided to assist them. After getting permission from the individual to go into their home and instructions on where to look for the medication, they visited the residence.
The officers knocked on the door upon arrival and then entered the home, at which point they could hear groaning and cries for help. They searched the home and found a 58-year-old man stuck between the toilet and a cabinet in the washroom – noting it was apparent he had been there for some time and was in medical distress. The man was taken to the Taber hospital for treatment and later transferred to the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.
