46th Annual Archie Harvey Golf Tournament set for August 17th

The annual Archie Harvey Memorial Golf Tournament is set for next Friday at the Dunes Golf and Winter Club.

Tournament spokesman Eldon Wyant says the event is pretty special and is a way to remember a Mountie killed in the line of duty.

“This year is the 46th Annual Archie Harvey Golf Tournament. It’s done in coordination with the RCMP in Grande Prairie. Archie Harvey was a Corporal in the RCMP in Grande Prairie that was killed on duty on June 23, 1967.”

He adds the proceeds from the event go towards local charities as well as the Grande Prairie Regional College.

“Primarily, the proceeds are going towards two bursaries at GPRC to give to needy and deserving students there. We’ve also used additional proceeds for charities that are mostly youth based.”

Wyant adds registration can be done at the Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment and is $130.00 per player. Golfers will be treated to a silent auction, raffle, dinner, and prizes.

Tee off time is set for 10:30 a.m.
