AB Party leader speaks to Grande Prairie supporters

Aug 17, 2018 | 7:23 AM

The leader of the Alberta Party spoke in the city last night for a joint fund-raiser for the Grande Prairie and GP Wapiti Constituency Associations.

Stephen Mandel says his party wants to build Alberta back to what it was years ago.

“People in Grande Prairie want to see a broad vision for the province. They want to see a government that is going to supply services and going to be able to fulfill their dreams and conservatives, in my opinion, are not just those who want to make sure we don’t spend any money like the far right wing does, but we are people that want to make investments in hospitals and schools and people and build a province.”

He says combating crime is a priority as well.

“When you talk about Grande Prairie and crime, it is a major issue and what are we going to do about that. We have some plans that we have put together, how do we solve things in a different way.”

Mandel says the party’s vision for the province also includes private enterprise playing a role especially when it comes to senior’s housing as the government does not have enough money to provide the services.

There are no Alberta Party candidates nominated for the Grande Prairie and GP Wapiti Constituency Associations but he hopes to have them in place by the end of September.

The party so far has 27 candidates nominated and the hope is to have nominations in all 87 of the province’s ridings.
