Canadian halfpipe star Rosalind Groenewoud retires
CALGARY — Canada’s Rosalind Groenewoud, a longtime standout in the halfpipe discipline of freestyle skiing, is retiring from the sport.
The world champion in 2011, Groenewoud also earned seven X Games medals and nine World Cup/Grand Prix medals.
The 28-year-old Calgary native was hampered by injuries the past four seasons, but did manage to qualify for the 2014 and 2018 Olympics, where Groenewoud finished in the top 10.
Groenewoud helped in the push to include halfpipe in the Olympics for the first time in 2014 following the death of fellow Canadian star Sarah Burke.
