Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation receives two large donations

Nov 20, 2018 | 1:14 PM

The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation has received two large donations worth $1.75-million altogether.

The Doug Marshall family donated $1-million to the Key to Care Capital Campaign for the Key Equipment for Life Legacy Fund. The money will include the naming of the second-floor corridor, information kiosks and specialized medical equipment in the new hospital, once it is built.

“We appreciate everything the community has given us, all of the support for Doug’s business over the years, and we wanted to give back to the community that we love,” said Olivia Marshall in a press release from GPRHF.

Doug had provided a donation towards the MRI in the QEII Hospital in the past.

Canadian Natural Resources Limited provided a donation of $750,000 which will be made towards new medical advancements, new programs, equipment and educational supports. The first-floor corridor will be called the Canadian Natural Main Corridor.

“This donation will be placed in an endowment fund that will buy very much needed equipment in perpetuity, allowing Canadian Natural to give back year after year,” said Dawn Miller, Senior Development Officer for GPRHF.

Construction on the new hospital is set to ramp up in January 2019 with Clark Builders as the new contractor. A new timeline for opening has not been provided yet.
