Record-breaking year for Wembley Fire department

Jan 8, 2019 | 7:55 AM

Firefighters in Wembley were quite busy in 2018.

The Wembley Fire Department says last year they were activated by the Grande Prairie 911 dispatch centre to respond to a record-breaking 242 emergency calls.

The fire station’s 25 firefighters logged over 8600 volunteer hours.

Of those volunteer hours, 6400 of them were dedicated to things such as training, station duties, equipment testing, and servicing. 2100 of those hours were dedicated to responding to emergencies throughout the region.
