Woman charged with animal cruelty in Milk River found in Manitoba

STONEWALL, MANITOBA – A 59-year-old woman wanted in Alberta and Saskatchewan in animal neglect and cruelty charges, has been arrested in Manitoba.

 RCMP confirm that April Dawn Irving was arrested on the evening of Jan. 16, by Stonewall RCMP, on behalf of Milk River RCMP. She does not have any outstanding charges in that province. Stonewall is located northwest of Winnipeg.

She is currently in custody awaiting transport back to Alberta.

Irving was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals after five dogs were found dead on a property near Milk River, along with more than 200 neglected animals that were seized in 2014.
 
The animals that were alive, were found dehydrated, starving and chained to stakes.
 
Her court case here was never concluded and an arrest warrant was issued after she failed to show up for her court dates.

In 2016, Saskatchewan RCMP released a photo of a woman they believed was Irving and in Jan. 2017, it’s believed she was living in Jamaica.

It’s not known at this point how long she has been in Manitoba, or how RCMP located her. 

Alberta SPCA Spokesperson Dan Kobe tells LNN, “We’re happy she (Irving) will have to return to Alberta to face charges she should have faced five years ago.”
