Calgary Transit allowing political advertising

Calgary Transit says it will not ban political advertisements from its services because they’re a good source of revenue.

The comment comes after some transit riders complained about United Conservative Party ads showing up in responses to their transit information texts.

Municipal services are allowed to sell ads to political parties, although Calgary Transit says it doesn’t endorse them in any way.

Mount Royal University public relations professor Peter Ryan says it’s up to Calgarians to let city hall know if they dislike the political advertising.
