Patty Brehmer has been named the 2019 Clairmont Volunteer of the Year by the County of Grande Prairie. The Clairmont Volunteer of the Year Award is given out annually to a nominee who has established excellence and demonstrated dedication in their volunteer efforts within the community.

This year’s winner is a 15-year resident of the Hamlet of Clairmont. Brehmer is being recognized for her continued volunteerism efforts. Her ongoing commitment to community organizations like the Clairmont Senior’s Centre and the Area Food Bank (Clairmont location) are being celebrated.

She spent three consecutive terms serving as President for the Clairmont Senior’s Centre.

“I like to give back to the community,” said Brehmer, in a release. “It has been rewarding to see how much impact something as simple as giving two hours of my time can make in the community.”

The award was presented to Brehmer on Monday at the Wellington Resource Centre by Area Councillor Daryl Beeston, and Family and Community Support Services Program Assistant, Rebecca Claeys.

“The County of Grande Prairie is fortunate to have thousands of caring and dedicated volunteers within its boundaries. Our communities are stronger and more vibrant because of people like Patty Brehmer,” said Beeston, in a release.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the award has been handed out. It is organized by the County’s Wellington Resource Centre.
