Lopez & Bjorklund set to compete for Telus Cup

Despite the Grande Peace Athletic Club Ernies Sports Midget AAA Storm being eliminated in the 2nd round of the Alberta Midget AAA playoffs, there will be some Grande Prairie ties to the Telus Cup this year with the Pacific representatives.

Marco Lopez and Garin Bjorklund are on the Calgary Buffaloes team which won the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League this season and went on to sweep the Cariboo Cougars in the best-of-three Pacific Regional Championship this past weekend.

Both players spent time with the GPAC Bantam AAA Storm.

Lopez had 13 goals and 4 assists during the regular season for the Buffaloes, while Bjorklund had a 2.44 GAA in the regular season with a .909 SV%.

In the post-season, Lopez did not register a point, and Bjorklund improved on his stats with an outstanding 1.76 GAA and a 934 SV%

Lopez, Bjorklund, and the rest of the Buffaloes will play their 1st game at the Telus Cup on April 22nd when they face-off with the host Thunder Bay Kings.
