Calgary police seek help finding 12-year-old girl

Calgary police are asking the public for help in locating a 12-year-old girl believed to have been taken to Iraq in an alleged parental abduction.

Police say Ali Al Aazawi and his daughter Zahraa left for Egypt last June but she was not returned in September as required under a travel agreement between her parents.

They say Aazawi returned alone to Canada on April 4th and was arrested at the Toronto airport on one count of parental child abduction.

Police say it’s believed Zahraa is possibly with her father’s family and they’re asking the public- especially members of Calgary’s Iraqi community- to share any information that could help bring her home to her mother.
