GP Lacrosse Association begins their 2019 season

Apr 11, 2019 | 7:41 AM

The Grande Prairie Lacrosse Association kicked off their 2019 season this week as all of the teams hit the floor this week for practice.

President of the Grande Prairie Lacrosse Association Ron Regnier notes the organization is off to a good start to the year as registration is up from 2018.

“It has been great so far. We have just over 110 kids registered. Which gives us a team at every level. We actually had enough kids to have two teams at our peewee and novice levels which is pretty exciting for us.”

This week will see all of the team’s practice for the 1st time this season and as Regnier adds, they will have lots to do ahead of their first games of the season.

“April 26th is our 1st trip down to Edmonton. We have a lot of work to cram into 2 weeks to get our players ready for our first games.”

Last year the Grande Prairie Lacrosse Association had two teams which won provincial championships and as a result they have set the bar high for 2019.

“Both of those teams. A lot of our players haven’t played together for years like some of the teams in Edmonton or Calgary have so it takes some time to mesh and gel, but by the end of the season they were doing excellent.”

The Association is also still accepting last minute registrations for the 2019 season.
