Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association hosts Easter Eggstravaganza

Apr 12, 2019 | 12:00 PM

Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association will be hosting an “Easter Eggstravaganza” fundraiser and pet adoption event on April 13. Global Pet Foods Grande Prairie will be the venue for the event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 10530 117 Avenue.

“This one’s a little bit bigger than our normal adoption events and fundraisers,” says Natasha Arsenault, President of Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association.

Three local businesses are getting involved with the family and pet-friendly, Easter themed fundraiser.

“Global Pet Foods, Andrea’s Pampered Pets and Give a Dog a Bone Photography. They’ve all come together to help it and bring different aspects to the fundraiser itself.”

15 animals will be available for adoption at Easter Eggstravaganza. Most of those animals will be cats due to the high rate of felines that have come into the care of the rescue as of late, but some dogs will be available, too.

Arsenault says the adoption rate at events hosted by the organization are normally very high “because usually there’s some build up, so a lot of people are coming in. We do usually have a fair amount; I’d say about 80 percent of our animals usually get adopted.”

Since January 1, Bandaged Paws has already taken 140 animals into their care, but Arsenault says the rescue is at around the same numbers that they were at last year so far.

“Usually the first three months of the year are very similar. Right now, coming into kitten season is when we’re expecting the influx and its really uncertain at that point.” – Arsenault

The demands of kitten season always prove to be challenging for the organization, explains Arsenault. “It’s already started. It usually starts about this time every year so it’s expected, but still, it seems as much as we try to make a difference, it seems to be more animals every year we’re getting calls for.”

A portion of proceeds from the event support the non-profit and funds will go towards helping Bandaged Paws cover some of their high yearly costs.

“They’ll be going mainly towards vet bills. That’s one of our biggest expenses, so that will be the main goal. To raise money there and especially with kitten season happening, its starting to get real in here,” said Arsenault.

Andrea’s Pampered Pets will be fundraising for the non-profit through nail trimmings and chalk tail painting. They will also be selling Easter themed wreathes handcrafted by one of their groomers.

A very special guest will also be in attendance at Easter Eggstravaganza.

“The Easter Bunny is coming and he’s super excited to meet all of the dogs and the children that are going to come to the event,” said Arsenault.
