The official results are in from the 2019 Provincial Election, and the GP-Wapiti riding is sitting at the top of the voter turnout list.

A total of 23,744 voters turned out in that riding, accounting for 80.2% of eligible voters casting a ballot. That shatters the previous record for the riding, which was 57.2% back in 1993, the first election that included the riding.

That is the highest percentage turnout in any riding across the province as well. That is trailed in second by Vermilion-Lloydminster-Wainwright at 76.2%.

The seat went to United Conservative Party candidate Travis Toews, who took 17,772 of those votes, or 74.8% of the total vote.

The Grande Prairie riding, which went to Tracy Allard of the UCP as well, had a voter turnout of 61.5%, accounting for a total of 20,263 votes. Allard won with 62.7% of the vote.

The province as a whole set a record with a total of 1,905,520 votes cast, a turnout of 64% of eligible voters. A record of 696,000 of those voters took part in advance polls from April 9-13.

The 47 new MLAs are set to be sworn in to the 30th Legislature of Alberta on Tuesday, with the first sitting set to happen by the third week of May. 63 of the 87 seats in the Legislature went to the UCP, while the remaining 24 went to the NDP.
