Fundraiser for Odyssey House taking place in May

A fundraising event aimed at raising funds and awareness to help break the cycle of family violence is taking place on May 11.

Royal Lepage is holding its eleventh annual Garage Sale for Shelter, and Broker Angie Peters says the event has brought in tens of thousands of dollars in Grande Prairie since it started over a decade ago.

“We’ve held it every year since the event began in Canada. Over those eleven years to date, we’ve raised $60,000 that’s been given to Odyssey House, and our agents here at the office pay all of the expenses for marketing the event and such, so that everything that’s raised at the garage sale goes to Odyssey House,” says Peters. “We raised $8,000 last year and I believe two years before that. It would be fantastic if we could raise that amount again this year.”

Royal Lepage offices across Canada will also be hosting their own sales, and in the past eleven years, the event has brought in close to $3-million country-wide.
