Snowfall Warning Ends but Weather leads to Cancellations

May 4, 2019 | 9:01 AM

The snowfall warning has ended for the Grande Prairie region.

Our city received a total of 12.6 cm of snow on Friday.

According to 511alberta.ca, Highway 43 from the BC Border to Bezanson is snow covered, as is Highway 40 from Grande Prairie to Highway 16.

Highway 2 from Grande Prairie to Rycroft, and Highway 43 from Little Smoky to Cherhill are listed as partly covered.

City streets are ice covered and slippery this morning.

Do take caution if you have to drive anywhere.

The weather has also caused a number of cancellations.

The Rotary club’s Green-A-Thon, and the County’s Roadside Cleanup – both scheduled for this weekend, have been cancelled due to the weather.

The Green-A-Thon will not be rescheduled while the Roadside Cleanup will be moved to a different date.

All Grande Prairie Pee Wee football league games scheduled for today have been cancelled, as has the Northern Lights AAA Baseball team’s home opener games at Evergreen Park.

One event still taking place today is the Grande Prairie Petroleum Association’s Clay Shoot.
