12 patients and 11 children taken to hospital after Edmonton bus crash

May 23, 2019 | 3:33 PM

Alberta Health Services says 12 patients, including 11 children, have been taken to hospital after a school bus crash on one of Edmonton’s busiest freeways.

The collision took place about 8:15 a.m. near the Quesnell Bridge over the North Saskatchewan River.

Officials say there are no life-threatening injuries and all patients are in stable condition, although two have broken bones.

Edmonton police say in a news release that officers responded to the single-vehicle collision on Whitemud Drive near 149th Street.

They say the bus was westbound when it struck a concrete retaining wall on the east side of the freeway.

Police say 12 other children on the bus were not injured and were taken to school.
