Fritz signs two-year extension with Islanders

Grande Prairie’s Tanner Fritz is staying on Long Island.

The 27-year-old forward inked a two-year contract extension with the New York Islanders, worth a reported $700,000 AAV.

Fritz has appeared in 42 career NHL games over the last two seasons with the Islanders, scoring three goals and adding five assists. He only appeared in 8 regular season games this year and did not play in the playoffs due to a blood clot in his hand that had to be surgically removed.

He has been a part of the Islanders franchise for a majority of his four-year professional career. He has scored 43 goals and notched 129 points over that span with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Islanders’ farm team.
