The Grande Prairie Storm have hired a new assistant coach.

Ryan Aasman had previously been an assistant coach with a Midget Triple “A” team in Lethbridge.

“I’m excited to come to Grande Prairie and begin my dream of coaching junior hockey. I can’t thank Mark, Matt and the entire organization enough for the opportunity’. I’m excited work with the current roster players and new players coming in to develop these athletes as hockey players and as young adults. I look forward to working alongside Matt and the rest of the staff; it’s a very exciting time to be part of the Grande Prairie Storm,” says Aasman in a release.

The team says he will be working with Storm defenceman and in hockey operations.

Last year’s assistant coach Brent Cosgrove will not return this year.

“His dedication to the Grande Prairie Storm’s Jr. A program for 2 years helped the Storm to back-to-back playoff berths and significantly improved regular season records. The Storm wishes Blake all the best in his future endeavors,” the team says in that same release.
