Feed the Kids Food Truck fundraiser hits 100 Ave Thursday

The 5th annual Feed the Kids Foodtruck Fundraiser is taking place downtown on Thursday.

Nan Swanston, one of the owners of Image Design, the company that organizes the event, says it’s a fundraiser for the school nutrition programs for the Grande Prairie Public and Catholic School Districts.

She says they started the fundraiser when they had learned local children were going to school with no or very limited food or poor quality nutrition.

“And then they are not able to learn and behaviour is an issue too. So when we learned that, we decided if we connected a food event to feeding the kids, it would be a good fundraiser.”

Swanston says at their last event they raised about $14,000 and they’re hoping to exceed that.

“Another really big goal is to bring more and more awareness to the need for the nutrition program, how important it is and how important it is to fund it.”

Food trucks will be lined up along 100 Avenue in front of Image Design Thursday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Lunch can be purchased by cash donation. All donations will go to the two school districts.
