Saint Lawrence Centre still searching for new home
The Saint Lawrence Centre says it is back to square one for locating a new home in Grande Prairie.
The organization says in a Facebook post that the centre had been working with Northreach, formerly known as HIV North, to change the land use with the city and secure the former Rising Above Furniture Store, but are no longer pursuing it because of pushback and fears from the businesses surrounding that location. However, Northreach will continue to try and secure the location without the Saint Lawrence Centre.
The centre has been searching for a new home since the end of March after Rotary House had to impose capacity regulations on the building. The centre, which offers daytime support services to Grande Prairie’s homeless community, has not been operating since that time.
