A former member of the Grande Prairie Storm is returning to his hometown club as a member of their staff.

The club announced Thursday morning they have hired Jordan McTaggart as its new Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 19/20 season.

A graduate of Augustana College, McTaggart completed his Bachelor of Science Degree.

In a press release put out by the team, President and General Manager Mark Bomersback was quite happy about welcoming the Storm alum back to the organization.

“Jordan is a very passionate young man who is very keen when it comes to strength, conditioning, and nutrition for elite athletes. I think the hiring is instrumental to not only the Storm’s success, but for the hockey community as a whole. It is very exciting for the Storm to add such a strong piece of the local hockey community onto our coaching staff.”

In the same release, McTaggart shared how excited he was to get to work for his hometown team.

“Obviously with the way the game has evolved, strength, conditioning, and nutrition are more important now than ever. I’m looking forward to working with the coaching staff here to develop top-tier athletes and hockey players that will compete for scholarships on the national level.”

McTaggart was a member of the Grande Prairie Storm from 2011-2014.

In 147 games played, he registered 21 goals and 24 assists.

The Storm’s new staff and roster will hit the ice for training camp at the end of August.
