Brief hold and secure Monday morning at two Wembley schools lifted

A police situation earlier this morning led to a brief hold and secure at two schools in Wembley.

The Peace Wapiti Public School Division says Wembley Elementary School and Helen E. Taylor School were placed under the security measure while police responded to the situation in the area. The hold and secure was rescinded at around 10:15 after police said the incident was no longer on going.

Hold and Secures are put in place when an unrelated threat or incident is happening in close proximity to a school, but not inside of it. Normal school activities continue on but entering and exiting the building is limited during that time.
