Stoby to represent Grande Prairie & Canada at the World Mixed Martial Arts Championships

A Grande Prairie product will be competing on the World stage in August.

Ian Stoby of Champion Gym and Gladiators MMA will be competing at the IMMAF World Mixed Martial Arts Championships in Rome Italy.

Stoby will be competing in the A division among 16 and 17-year-olds at the 155 lb weight category.

Stoby has received and earned plenty of honours during his combat sports career which include;

– Gold medal and best youth boxer award at the 2017 Albert Provincial boxing championships Junior 60kg

– Gold medals Capital City Championships Brazilian Jujitsu and NoGi submission grappling 65kg

– Gold medal Sparing ITF Taekwon-do Open Worlds Championships Netherlands 2017 65kg

– Gold medal sparing ITF Taekwon-do North American Championships New York USA 2018 70 kg

– Gold medal sparing CHITF Taekwon-do world championships Melbourne Australia 2019 70kg

Stoby was also named Junior Athlete of the Year at the 2017 Northwest Alberta Sport Excellence Awards.

The Championships run August 3rd and 4th.

This is the first world amateur mixed martial arts championships held for youth aged 12-17.
