Canadian featherweight Julia Budd looks for third straight Bellator title defence
Canadian Julia (The Jewel) Budd says she is fighting for her legacy when she defends her Bellator featherweight title for a third time Friday night against unbeaten Israeli (Big Bad) Olga Rubin.
With a 10-fight win streak, the 36-year-old from Port Moody, B.C., is already making her mark in mixed martial arts. Budd (12-2-0) has not lost in more than seven years.
A win Friday and Budd will tie flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane of Hawaii for most consecutive successful title defences in Bellator. Fellow Canadian Rory (Red King) MacDonald has also defended his welterweight title twice.
Budd believes she is getting better with age.
