Wet conditions creating issues for Bear Creek Pool completion: City
The City says they are eager to get the outdoor pool at Muskoseepi Park open too, but that a quality product is paramount before they can open it up to the public
“We hear the community and know there is an eagerness to visit the outdoor pool,” said Director of Corporate Services with the City of Grande Prairie Susan Walker, in a release. “The City is committed to completing a pool that will serve the community for decades to come, this means taking all measures to ensure a quality product.”
They say in the release that the biggest challenge they are facing right now is the wet weather we have been having. That has led to struggles in completing the application of multiple layers of pool basin coating, because each layer must be applied in dry conditions, with temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius. Each layer needs at least 48 hours to fully cure.
Many attempts to do this have been made over the last two years. However, due to the moisture, the coating had to be removed and repairs had to be made before re-application.
