Busy time for local rodeo people

The next couple weeks will be a busy time for rodeo fans.

The High Prairie rodeo takes place Tuesday and Wednesday. Following that is the North Peace Stampede in Grimshaw, the Field of Dreams Stampede in La Crete and the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede in the first part of August.

Some Peace Country competitors are holding down top-10 spots in the Rodeo Canada standings.

Sexsmith’s Lee Rombough is sixth in tie-down roping.

Jake Watson of Hudson’s Hope is fourth in saddle broncs.

Fort St. John’s Stephen Culling is fifth, Pouce Coupe’s Clayton Moore seventh, in steer wrestling.

Dawson Creek’s Jacob Gardner is eighth in bull riding.

Worsley’s Braxton Rowe is sixth in steer riding.

Chetwynd’s Rylee Trenholm is third among rookie barrel racers and fifth among all rookies.

Tyler Wilkinson of Kinuso is third in the rookie steer wrestling standings.

Grande Prairie’s Jennifer Neudorf sits 15th among all permit holders.
