Care Human Services celebrates 50 years in the Peace Country

Care Human Services, formerly known as ASLS are currently in the midst of their 50th anniversary.

The organization currently provides support for residents in the Peace Country of all ages who require supportive living services.

“In 1968 a number of concerned Peace River and area parents and community members came together to form the organization advocating for their children who were not allowed in the school system back then,” explained Marketing Manager Glory Przekop.

The following year the organization became a society.

Recently the organization went through a name change, going from ASLS to Care Human Services.

“We felt it better represents us as an organization,” stated Przekop.

“It is more of a clear and simple statement of our values. More compassionate and empathetic humans providing respectful skilled support to those we have been entrusted to provide care to.”

With the organization celebrating their 50th anniversary, they are planning a pair of open houses.

The first will be held on August 24 at their Saskatoon Lake property,

“It will go from 3-7:00 p.m. There will be a BBQ, bouncy obstacle course, glitter tattoos, lots of games, and we will have our history books on hand for people to read at their leisure,” shared Przekop.

They will also be holding an open house in Grimshaw in September.
