Neudorf Keeps Busy During Productive Summer

It’s been a busy and successful summer for a 16-year-old horsewoman from Grande Prairie.

Peace Wapiti Academy student Jennifer Neudorf swept four youth categories and was named Derby Champion at the National Reining Horse Association Derby held in June in Oklahoma City.

She says a lot of practice ked up to that win.

“A lot of training and riding. I have a good trainer that pushes me to my limit (My horse and I) make a good team. I ride horses every day, but my good reining horse stays with my trainer in Arizona.”

Neudorf also took third in barrels at the rodeo in Dawson Creek and fifth at Teepee Creek. She in her first year competing in pro rodeos as a permit holder.

She has more travel ahead as she is heading back to Las Vegas today (Friday).

“I’m going to watch my trainer show in Vegas. I go back to Arizona (where) I ride horse and train for a bit, then I go to Tulsa, Oklahoma to show, then to Vegas again and I’ll show there and then I have another show in Arizona. I’ll be busy al month.”

Neudorf ‘s goals include being Rookie of the Year on the Canadian pro rodeo circuit next year and competing at the Canadian Finals Rodeo.
