The Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association, or GPRTA, has a new Executive Director.

Terry Dow has over 25 years of experience in tourism, hospitality, sales and leadership across Northern Saskatchewan and Southern Ontario.

Dow says she is excited for the opportunity.

“This is a beautiful and diverse region and I can’t wait to work with the Board, our partners and local communities to showcase and develop the tourism potential that exists throughout the area in all seasons.”

She replaces James Leppan, who left earlier this year to work with Travel Alberta.

Dow was previously the Executive Director for the Waskesiu and Area Wilderness Region. She worked with members to develop tourism in the area, and to promote visitor experiences in Northern Saskatchewan.

She has also held positions in the tourism industry such as board member of the Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce, Director of Tourism for the City of Thorold, and the President and spokesperson for the Greater Thorold Business Council.

Dow has also worked with non-profits in organizational management and with local boards, elected officials, stakeholders and industry partners.

She has worked on a two major real estate projects as well; the Living Sky Condos in Prince Albert and the Rolling Meadows development in the Niagara Region.

“On behalf of the GPRTA Board of Directors, I’m very excited to welcome Terry to the Grande Prairie region and see her take our organization to the next level through continued engagement and work with our municipal partners, members, regional tourism operators and other community stakeholders,” says GPRTA Board President Jonathan Clarkson.

Clarkson adds they are excited to get to work.

“The Board and I look forward to working with her to roll out the Grande Prairie Region Destination Management Plan, being created by Northwest Consultants it will provide a framework for tourism and the visitor economy for our region.”
