GPRC Basketball teams begin season at NAIT

Oct 18, 2019 | 8:49 AM

The ACAC basketball season officially tips-off tonight, with the GPRC Wolves hitting the road to Edmonton for a pair of games.

The women’s and men’s teams will be at NAIT for games Friday and Saturday against the Ooks to open the 2019-2020 regular season.

On the men’s side, this season will mark the third under the watch of local product Evan Lloyd, who will be looking to lead his team to the postseason after missing by just a hair in his previous two seasons. The Wolves missed last year’s playoffs by just two points, and by four points two years ago.

Meantime the women’s squad will begin the Bill Bradley era this evening. Bradley, a Valleyview native, was named head coach back in June after his predecessor Mandy Botham resigned to take a helm of the Red Deer College Queens.

Bradley and his squad will be looking for a few more victories this season, after only claiming one victory all of last season and four over the last three seasons combined.

Tonight’s games at NAIT get going with the women at 6, followed by the men playing at 8. Both teams will rematch with the Ooks on Saturday with the women at 1 and the men at 3.

They’ll then host Concordia University College on November 1 and 2 for their home openers.
