Warkentin re-elected for fifth term

Chris Warkentin is heading back to Ottawa.

The incumbent Conservative MP for Grande Prairie-Mackenzie won his seat by a landslide in Monday’s election.

40-year-old Warkentin has now set to take office for his fifth term as this area’s Member of Parliament.

He was elected as the MP in the Peace River Constituency in 2006 and subsequently re-elected in 2008, 2011, and 2015 where the riding then changed to Grande Prairie-Mackenzie.

This past August when he announced he was seeking re-election, Warkentin said he was feeling confident and optimistic and would be campaigning to make sure locals had all the information they needed when it came to decision day.

“Elections always make any politician nervous. Of course, there is always a whole host of uncertainties when it comes to elections, but I am very confident and very optimistic,” said Warkentin. “But obviously, it is our job to get out there, to communicate with Canadians to ensure that they have the information they need to make a wise and informed decision come election time.”

Warkentin is married to Michelle and they have three children; Abigail, Cobi, and Kyler.
