Burchill expects western separation movement following election results
Grande Prairie-Mackenzie’s candidate for the People’s Party of Canada, Doug Burchill, says Canadians got what they asked for in this election.
After his loss to incumbent Conservative Chris Warkentin was announced, Burchill wouldn’t comment on his opponents or their campaigns, but would comment on the federal election, and Justin Trudeau’s Liberals winning a minority government.
“For the country as a whole, the country’s pretty much done. Financially, we can’t afford to have Trudeau in for four more years. There will probably be an election called in the next year, they’ll push him out. But again, Canadians got what they deserved, they voted for him.”
Burchill went on to say that he believes people in the west are paying to support the country, and are not seeing any benefits of their own. He expects this election result to spark a western separatist movement.
