Saddle Hills County declares agriculture disaster
Nov 6, 2019 | 4:39 PM
Saddle Hills County has joined the County of Grande Prairie in declaring a municipal agriculture disaster.
A post on the Saddle Hills County Facebook page says a lot of the crop has not been harvested because of the wet fall and early snow.
The County adds the declaration allows it to lobby the federal and provincial governments for help, through supports like tax deferrals but does not mean funding or other programs to help producers will be available immediately.
The County of Grande Prairie declared an agriculture disaster Monday. Anywhere from 40 to 60 per cent of the County of Grande Prairie crop is still out in the field.
