Fatal collision near Slave Lake Sunday claims two lives

A 23-year-old man and 23-year-old woman have died after a collision along Highway 2 on Sunday afternoon near Slave Lake.
RCMP were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m. yesterday, where a small sedan and a small SUV had collided near the 9 Mile bridge, about 18 km west of Slave Lake. The two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene upon arrival.
Traffic was being diverted away from the area for most of the day Sunday while RCMP and Collision Analysts investigated the crash. Police who were diverting traffic around the area described road conditions as icy.
The highway has since re-opened to traffic.
